Sonam Kapoor and Fawad Khan visit Captain Tiao

The style icon and her co-star Fawad recently visited the show Captain Tiao for the promotion of their upcoming movie Khoobsurat. "Khoobsurat" is the 2014 remake of 1980's film of the same name starring Rekha, Rakesh Roshan and Dina Pathak. It was directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee and produced by Hrishikesh Mukherjee and N.C. Sippy. Khoobsurat won that year's Filmfare Best Movie Award and Rekha won the Best Actress Award. The movie was a phenomenal success remembered even today for Rekha's vivacious and caring role.

This year's remake of the movie stars our very own version of Audrey Hepburn, Sonam Kapoor alongside Pakistani heartthrob Fawad Afzal Khan. Also present are Ratna Pathak Shah, yes daughter of the same Dina Pathak who played the role of the strict, rule abiding Nirmala Gupta in the original version. Khoobsurat is directed by debutante Shashanka Ghosh and produced by Anil Kapoor and Siddharth Roy Kapur.

There is however a slight twist and a modern take to the story this time. Sonam Kapoor plays the role of a Physiotherapist who is free, jovial, loud, funny and fashionable (can't miss this one when its Sonam!) and Fawad Khan plays the role of a Rajput prince. Everybody in the Rathore household are enamored by Nirmala Devi Rathore and religiously abide by everything she says or rather, orders. Khoobsurat is a story of how two distinctly polar and opposite individuals fall in love with each other.

Style cannot be left behind in a Sonam Kapoor movie! That is too obvious to deny! After Aisha where Sonam was styled in uber fashion brands and exquisite designer labels on the lines of Chnel, Salvatore Ferragamo and Christian Dior styled personally by Pernia Qureshi however Sonam's style in Khoobsurat Movie is slightly on the sober side to give her a 'misfit' look. While Raghavendra Rathore styled Fawad's royal look in the film, Karuna Laungani, a freelance Fashion Stylist/Consultant who is from our very own suburb Bandra is said to be styling Sonam for the movie. She is also the Fashion Editor of Elle Magazine from 2007-2013. Head Designer of Golmaal 2006-2007. She runs her own site "Border&Fall" where her previous and present arts are up for display.

This is the second time that the Kapoor trio are coming together with a project, the last one being Aisha which did not do too well at the box-office. Aisha was also shrouded with loads of controversies, one of which being the famous fallout between Sonam and Abhay Deol, the latter claiming he would never work with the Kapoors again! Pretty hot stuff that was!

It is yet to see how this film fares at the box office and what's in its fate?! Only the film's release can tell!

Fawad was also surrounded by a controversy wherein the Pakistanis were against him working in a Bollywood movie. He is said to have ignored the anger waves.

Bollywood's obsession with white-skinned actors and actresses is well known to the world. There has been a lot of influx of Pakistani talents namely Ali Zafar, Humaima Malick and the most recent one being Fawad Khan. This seems to be an improving the viewership of Bollywood films in the much conservative country Pakistan.

Whether this movie works for both the countries and actors and most importantly for the Kapoor trio is yet to be seen. Watch the madness in the nearest theatre on September 19, 2014.
